The Secure status at Pocomoke Elementary School has now been lifted. Normal activities have resumed, and everyone is safe. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.
Out of an abundance of caution, Pocomoke Elementary School is currently in a Secure status. This means that students and staff are remaining inside the building but are able to move freely within their classrooms. This precautionary measure is being taken due to a report of an incident that occurred on the other side of town. There is no immediate cause for concern.

On behalf of Worcester County Public Schools & the Worcester County Sheriff's Office:
We are aware of an incident that took place at approximately 4:56 p.m. on Monday, October 13, outside of Pocomoke Elementary School (PES). After exiting the building, a PES employee was struck by an unidentified object. Since that time, our partners at the Worcester County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) launched an investigation into the circumstances of this incident.
As this is an active investigation, we cannot share any additional information at this time. Out of an abundance of caution, WCSO has had an increased presence in the area. Should anyone have any information about this incident, please contact Detective Layton of the Worcester County Sheriff's Office by calling (410) 632-2076.

There will be a stand up faculty meeting today directly after dismissal in the back of the Media Center. Please check to make sure your teammates received this message.
